**SOLD** CPO – LaPierre (Francaise Des Jeux) *52cm* Road Bike

LaPierre is an extremely well established bicycle maker in its native France.  The company started making bikes in 1946 and was one of the first French bike builders to jump aboard the mountain bike boom of the 1980s and 90s. But no French bike maker with any pride is going to neglect road bikes, and for many years Lapierre has been the bike sponsor of Marc Madiot’s Francaise des Jeux ProTour team.  The frame is a one piece design that is constructed of Lapierre’s proprietary 0.9C high modulus carbon fiber. The bike is designed with a great deal of material in the BB area and generous flaring of the tubes around all the main junctions.  The bike is definitely stiff, but the carbon frame, fork, bars and seatpost do a great job at smoothing out the road.  The Lapierre is very stable, both in a straight line and when leaning it over in the curves, while the reasonable geometry gave the bike a distinctive sure-footedness.  The bike inspires confidence with its smooth response… as must ride!

The bike has been ridden 1-2 times and was bought more on impulse than a need for a single bike to roll. The owner of this bike saw it, fell in love with it, rode it 1-2X’s, and hung it in the garage. The owner is an owner of many bikes so this one just never got ridden. It shows as brand new right down to the tire tread which shows zero wear.  The bike is bone stock outside of the front brake.

Tommaso Augusta Old School:  With the major success of the classic black Tommaso Augusta the product team over at Tommaso thought it was time to release a limited edition model into the Augusta family. In contrast to the all black Augusta Ninja comes the Augusta Old School in apple green. Together with the silver components and the leather accents this bike is Old School all the way.

Simplicity is the genius behind the fixed gear bike. No shift or brake cables to adjust. No derailleur to tempt your concern. Like jeans and a t-shirt over a suit and tie…it’s just what you want. The Tommaso Augusta is a simple soulful frame with a few necessary parts to make up the complete machine.

The spirit of the Augusta Old School is the strong steel frame with minimal logos, silver deep dish wheels, hand sewn leather grips, silver riser handlebar, silver seatpost, silver -18 degree quill stem, one inch threaded fork and brown leather colored saddle. Tommaso worked hard on getting the look just right.  Yeah, we’ve all seen the ugly “commercial” bikes holding the dust off the floor at the local shops. The Tommaso Frame

At the heart of the Tommaso Augusta is a strong steel frame with track geometry. This makes for a ride that is buttery smooth and fast. A slightly steeper seat tube and a shorter rake on the fork make for pure power transfer and precise handling. The Augusta steel fork is designed to take the accelerations on the banked corners of the velodrome as well as the rigors of commuting on the road. The fork and frame are drilled to accommodate a road caliper brake. This year Tommaso even added a water bottle mount to the seat tube for those long adventures.

The Tommaso Fit

The Tommaso Augusta is designed with a standard geometry. This means the top tube is parallel to the ground. As with most classic steel frames the seat tube and top tube are almost the same size. This is called the classic “square geometry” and is very easy to fit. We have provided sizing and suggested rider heights for every model of Tommaso bike. The Tommaso Feel

Not all track bikes will see the track. Most are at home for commuting and letting loose after a long week of work. Tommaso has provided a great bike for training on the road and working on the perfect pedal stroke. Riding a fixed bike will shed light on poor pedaling performance within 30 revolutions. Bad pedaling performance is called “pedaling squares.” This means the rider is not supplying even and fluid strokes to the pedals. On a fixed gear bike those “dead areas” of the stroke will be felt by the rider when the gear is fixed. The fixed gear will force the rider to pedal with fluid and constant power all the way around the stroke. The best riders on the road will have the best pedal stroke. Consider the Tommaso Augusta an inexpensive cycling coach. Technical pedaling data aside, the Augusta is just plain fun to ride.

The Tommaso Augusta comes with a 16-tooth fixed cog installed on a flip-flop hub that can also accept a single-speed freewheel.
